I was commisioned to create a book cover for a lively and funny autobiography of a famous American comedian whose first crime was being born mixed-race in South Africa. I grew up in South Africa under apartheid. My mother is Black. My father is white. One of the worst crimes you could commit back then involved interracial sex.
